Some factors to consider when transporting motorbikes internationally
What are the common procedures in shipping motorbikes?
- If you choose to take out Marine Insurance, which we strongly advise, a pre-shipment inspection report from an authorised insurance assessor is usually required. We can do this in almost any area.
- Please note that personal belongings must not be left in any bags attached to the motorbike. When shipping on a RORO vessel, if any belongings are found the motorbike will not be accepted onboard. We can load the motorbike into a container if you want to transfer some personal things. This is usually a more expensive option.
Is it possible to store other items on my motorbike when shipping them overseas?
Unfortunately, you cannot load up your motorbike bags with additional personal items that aren’t usually part of the motorbike. The customs and quarantine officer will often need to inspect the items which they cannot do if the items are packed in any bags on the motorbike.
Are there any concerns or restrictions that I should be aware of when transporting my motorbike to another country?
Some countries impose import tariffs and other fees on any vehicle imported, while others have strict environmental regulations based on the motorbike’s age and the mileage travelled.
