How it works

Shipment Options

Method of shipment

PeachT offers two main shipping methods for international vehicle shipping depending on your destination, vehicle type, timing, and budget: RoRo (Roll-on/Roll-off or also known as “roll on roll”) and Container Shipping. We’ll recommend the best option once we understand your route and requirements.

RoRo (Roll-on/Roll-off) Shipping

RoRo is a popular, cost-effective option for standard drivable vehicles on supported routes. Vehicles are driven on and off the vessel and secured for transit; personal items are typically not permitted inside the vehicle.

Container Shipping

Container shipping is a flexible option often chosen for higher-value, non-standard, or non-drivable vehicles, or when additional protection is preferred. Depending on the route and requirements, some approved items may be allowed in the container if declared and documented correctly.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does international vehicle shipping cost?

International vehicle shipping costs vary depending on the destination, shipping method (RoRo or container), vehicle size and type, and whether you need port-to-port or door-to-door service, where available. Timing and sailing availability can also impact pricing, along with any documentation, inspection, or destination charges required for your route. For the most accurate cost, request a quote with your vehicle details, pickup location, destination, and preferred timeframe.

Is RoRo safe?

RoRo (Roll-on/Roll-off) is a widely used and generally safe method of shipping vehicles internationally when handled through established carriers and processes. Your vehicle is driven onto the vessel, secured for transit, and driven off at discharge, making it a cost-effective option for standard drivable vehicles on supported routes. As with any transport method, conditions vary by route and carrier, so we’ll confirm the most suitable option for your vehicle and destination.

Can I ship personal items in my car?

In most cases, personal items are not permitted inside vehicles, particularly for RoRo shipments, due to carrier rules and customs, security, and biosecurity requirements. Some routes and shipping methods may allow limited items under specific conditions, but this must be confirmed in advance for your destination and shipment type. The safest approach is to assume the vehicle should be shipped empty unless your shipping coordinator advises otherwise.

How long does shipping take?

Shipping timeframes depend on your destination, sailing schedules, port processing at departure and discharge, seasonal congestion, and any inspections or clearance steps required upon arrival. Because these factors vary, we provide an expected shipping window based on the next available sailing and your route when you request a quote, so you can plan with clearer timing expectations and transit times. As an exampleRoRo shipping from Australia to New Zealand typically takes around 2 to 4 weeks.

Do I need import approval?

Import approval requirements depend on the destination country and the specific vehicle being shipped, and in many cases approval or eligibility checks are required before shipment or clearance. Rules can vary based on vehicle type, age, and the reason for import, so we’ll guide you on what is required for your destination and help you understand the steps before your vehicle departs.

RoRo vs container, which should I choose?

RoRo is often the most cost-effective option for standard, drivable vehicles on supported routes, while container shipping is typically better suited to higher-value vehicles, non-drivable vehicles, modified vehicles, or shipments that need added protection or flexibility. The right choice depends on your destination, vehicle type, timing, and budget, and we’ll recommend the best method once we understand your requirements.

How often do you sail?

We offer frequent sailings, typically 6+ per month across our key routes, although schedules can vary by destination, season, and carrier availability. When quoting, we can confirm the next available sailing windows for your route and help you choose the most practical timing for your shipment.

Which countries do you ship to from Australia?

We ship vehicles internationally from Australia to key destinations including New Zealand, the United Kingdom, Japan, and the USA. Availability can vary by route and sailing schedules, so if you’re shipping to another destination, contact us for a quote and we’ll confirm the most suitable shipping method and the next available options for your location.

Will my vehicle need a quarantine inspection?

In many destinations, vehicles can be selected for a quarantine inspection, particularly if there are strict biosecurity rules. This inspection helps confirm the vehicle is clean and compliant before it can be released, and it can affect timelines if extra cleaning or checks are requiredWe’ll advise what’s typical for your destination and how to prepare to reduce avoidable delays.

Do you handle customs clearance?

Customs clearance requirements depend on the destination and how the shipment is arranged. We can guide you through the documentation and compliance steps required for your shipment and explain what will be needed for customs clearance on arrival, including what may be handled by local partners or the consignee depending on the route.
